This is a collectors plate by Stewart Sherwood. It is titled Coming Home and is the First annual plate in "A Victorian Christmas" series by the artist. This is the 1989 edition and it is a limited edition, the plate is numbered 3895B.

Stewart Sherwood, a native of Toronto, Canada, is a self-taught artist who has mastered such various and demanding media as oil paint, watercolor, gouache, marker and pastel. His professional awards are as diverse as his artistic talents. Mr. Sherwood has earned a variety of high-profile awards in the field of limited edition collectible art. He has created portraits of such notable world leaders as Pope John Paul II, Menachem Begin, John F. Kennedy, Anwar Sadat, and Pierre Trudeau; designs for Christmas cards; promotions for public television; magazine illustrations, and even a painting for the President of France.

Mr. Sherwood is the only limited-edition plate artist to have earned the prestigious Canadian Plate of the Year Award four times (1987, 1989, 1990, and 1991). Additionally, Mr. Sherwood was chosen to design a set of gold commemorative coins marking the anniversary of the founding of Montreal; two coins celebrating the 1996 Olympics; and a silver dollar commemorating the one-hundredth anniversary of professional hockey's Stanley Cup.
