Here we have an attractive nickel or possibly chrome plated Aladdin Model 12.
This lamp is the early straight-sided version of the Nº12 fount, research suggests these were only made in the first year of production, 1928 but I have no idea if this is correct.
The burner is original to the lamp and has 'Patented and Pats Pending' stamped on the winder but none of the later model 12 patent numbers which usually feature on the winders, the outer wick tube locks the opposite way to later versions too, the wick tube has three punched indentations to secure the flame spreader.
An early and relatively rare straight-sided Lox-On chimney is included, it is definitely an old chimney but is unmarked, if original the printed stamps have washed off over the years which I know does happen and has happened to an original bulged Aladdin chimney I have.
Mantle and shade pictured are for demonstration purposes only and are not included in this auction, the mantle won't travel and the shade is not included to help keep costs down for posting, plus I believe it to be off a different incandescent lamp rather than an Aladdin.
Condition, burner works well, wick winds up and down properly, no stress or drama in the brass, plating is worn on the burner 'basket', fount appears to have only one tiny dimple to the top of the fount, there is rubbing and peeling of the plating to the high points and filler cap and a general bubbling and pitting, the worst looking area is near the filler cap on the top of the fount, reading this back makes it sound horrendous but I try to be thorough many sellers don't even mention condition at all, these faults are all only really evident when the lamp is inspected up-close but from the usual room distance the plating looks very shiny indeed, to be fair the only really 'ugly' bit is near the filler cap, shade tripod appears tarnished brass colour, mentioned for accuracy.
Overall a useful and rare lamp, if replated will be even more beautiful.
To note, I try to point out the most obvious flaws or damage I can see and to be as honest as I possibly can be, so that you are happy and content with your purchase, please understand that old items have a tendency to be slightly scuffed or marked in some way or another over years of use, items will more than likely never be 'factory fresh' unless stated, also old items especially where flammable liquid is concerned are used at your own risk, I would never list anything that I believed to be unsafe, however I cannot guarantee that the items are 100% safe, I also cannot guarantee that the purchaser will use said items properly and in a safety-conscious manner, have a good look at the pictures and if there are any questions or concerns that you may have, please do not hesitate to email me, further pictures on request.
Please do not bid if you are not happy with the postage price, I pack to a high standard and use materials that are not cheap and I need to replenish them often.
Please note; postage prices do NOT include insurance, I am always more than happy to add insurance or tracking to the invoice but this needs to be requested AFTER the item finishes-only then the insurable price is known.
All items will be sent recorded or signed for as standard and this is reflected in the price.
International bidders please ask for a price to your country BEFORE placing a bid, as the item weighs more that Royal Mail's 'Small Packet' allowance it will be more expensive to send.
