If you want a complete new double wall rim- wheel add $69.00.  You can pick from the 26" 36 hole with 12 gage heavy duty spokes, double wall rim and is 1-1/8" wide at the top of the rim or pick the 26" 48 hole with 14 gage SS spokes, double wall rim and is 1" wide at the top of the rim.

We don't attach a big pulley or sprocket to the spokes as that's a very poor way to drive a wheel... 

We drive from the CNC machined hub. The lefthand threaded freewheel screws on the the left side of the hub and it is centered and it drive all the spokes.

We have current customers who have more than 50,000 + miles on our kits (gear box and rear custom hubs) and they are still running strong after 8 years. The Robin - Subaru EH035 engine with a cast iron lined cylinder is Made in Japan, the Honda GX35 has Aluminum Cylinder and it's Made in Thailand, the Mitsubishi & Tanaka engines are two cycle and made in Japan.

Dependant on rider size, riding conditions, sprocket and engine choice a top speed of 30 + mph is easily attainable with a 33.5 cc 1.60 hp engine and we offer engines up to 49.3 cc or 2.80 hp.

Our gear and chain drive bike kits have been used in commercial rental fleet without incident since 1996.

We use the same heavy duty gear reduction box in our Staton motorized Wheelbarrows and Flat Beds and they too have a Life Time Warranty on the gears. Our wheelbarrows and flat beds are used extensively by contractors to haul loads up to 1,000 lbs. in all types of climates and harsh conditions.

Features of the Staton-Inc. gear and chain drive kit includes the following:

ü The Staton Inc. custom gear box (made in the USA right here in Oklahoma City, OK) has six high speed double sealed ball bearings, ½” inch thick gears with a Life Time Warranty, a 5/8” output shaft with a 3/16” key way, snap ring grooves to hold the drive sprocket securely in place and a centrifugal clutch.

ü The Staton Inc. custom rear hub, your pick of the 28, 32, 36 and 48 hole sizes. They too are made here in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to exacting standards in our modern manufacturing facility. Each hub contains four high speed double sealed 12 mm ball bearings mounted to a 10 mm x 1.0 x 7.875” long axle. Each axle, all ball bearings and every component that we manufacture, are made to our exacting specifications. 

ü For the left hand side of the hub, we use a left hand threaded 16 tooth x 1/8" freewheel sprocket, for the engine to drive from. The advantage of using left hand thread, to screw the freewheel sprocket onto the hub, is that you drive from all the spokes, and the sprocket remains perfectly centered, at all times. Unlike other kits they "bolt" a sprocket or pulley to 5 to 12 spokes. They are not centered, they pull break and bend spokes then your wheel falls apart. Belts break - hard to change.

ü A perfectly centered sprocket increases performance throughout the entire rpm range as well as reducing noise, vibration and harshness.

ü For the right side of the hub we use standard right hand threads with standard type screw on type freewheel sprockets. Our screw on type freewheels are available in single speed, five, six seven and eight speed varieties. Please note: we do not include a right hand thread on freewheel in our kit. Take your old thread on freewheel off and re use it on our hub or you may want buy a new one.

ü The contents of the standard Staton Inc. gear and chain drive kit includes
One: throttle cable and finger - thumb lever,
One: remote stop switch,
One: Approx 46 inches of #410H chain,
Two: #410H master links - connecting links
One: 16 tooth x 1/8" left hand threaded freewheel sprocket.
One: For the gearbox, we include (one) CNC machined  #410H sprocket with up to 14 teeth sprocket.
One: Chain and sprocket guard on all outside & Inside drive gear boxes.
Our kits include most all mounting brackets, hardware and instructions.

ü Our left hand thread, 16 tooth left-hand threaded freewheel, is a true “freewheel,” it pedals with absolutely no drag while the same side chain remains motionless.

ü All our gear boxes (the gears have a Life Time Warranty) are engineered with a centrifugal clutch and feature easy pull starting engines.
