| The Tokonoma Series was inspired by the Asian art displayed in tokonomas alcoves. As the sacred center of a traditional Japanese home, tokonomas were reserved for treasured items like scrolls or calligraphy, beautiful kimonos, ikebana flower arrangements, miniature bonsai trees, and fine ceramics for tea ceremonies. The items displayed were changed for special occasions, according to the season, or to create different settings and atmospheres. | |

In China the color red symbolizes good luck, and is used for celebrations. In particular, for Chinese New Year children are given red envelops containing money, with the red envelop symbolizing good luck. |

The improvisational collage style of composing allows me the freedom to explore and discover unexpected evolutions of the content and meaning behind the metaphorical imagery.
While the metaphoric images have specific meaning to me, they are also enigmatic in that the viewer can bring their own personal experience to their interpretation.
A full-time studio artist, instructor and lecturer since 1994, Linda’s art has been exhibited and collected internationally - Germany & France.
