Sunward - CFX-3 Flying Model Rocket Educational Kit

Bring the real world of space to your students and allow them to participate in the building of a rocket, the thrill of launch, and the sense of accomplishment in a successful recovery

This is an excellent opportunity for the integration of science, language, art, math, industrial arts, geography, history, art, new technologies, problem solving, and much more, in whole-class, small-groups and individual activities.

The rocket is made up of paper, balsa and plastic, with no structural metal parts. Total lift-off weight of the vehicle is usually under 100 grams, including the rocket motor (20 grams) which has approximately 6 grams of propellant. All rocket motors are government approved and safety certified for use in Canada. The launch itself is supervised and following an audible countdown, the rockets are launched electrically, from a distance of 5 metres. A parachute is employed to provide a gentle and safe recovery of the model. Students keep the rocket they build. This "soft" recovery allows the students to re-use their rockets, however a new motor and recovery wadding are required.
