This rod is one of a series of custom crafted Super Seeker tuna rods with Alutecnos removable aluminum butts and Alutecnos roller guides we are now building.  They may be crafted utilizing almost any of the Super Seeker blank models.

These rods are so sweet they will make you teeth hurt.

This one 5 foot 6 inches in length with the butt attached. It is powered with a 30-80lb Super Seeker rod blank and Alutecnos 50lb roller guides. 

This Super Seeker blank, like all the Super Seeker blanks has great lift, outstanding early back bone, and wonderful action.    

I started using the Super Seeker rods on a tuna trip last year. The blank action was some what different then any rods i have used in the past. Very nice but different .. And I've used a lot of rods ... So i went to the Super Seeker site to understand why .. This is the short version  .. the Super Seeker blanks are made from  S-glass not E-glass .. it seems that e-glass will bend farther then it will compress ... so the top of the rod can bend farther then the bottom of the rod can compress .. thus most of the broken blanks you get are broken at the bottom of the rod .. S-glass will compress 3 times more the the e-glass .. so you get a kind of recoil when you are pumping a fish up .. It is a unique action .. but very, very nice .. It almost seems when you stop at the top of your upward motion ... the rod keep coming ..  I felt it helped me keep good pressure on the fish as i started reeling down ..  I'm a big fan.

This rod starts with and 50 lb Alutecnos short, straight, removable aluminum butt. Alutecnos has a great line up of aluminum butts. This 50 lb short straight butt is 17.91 inches long .. the Aftco is 17.76 ...

Alutecnos also offers an ultra short straight butt that is 16.85 inches long, or a short curved that is 18.89 inches long ..  they have all the bases covered with there line up of butts.

This butt is black and pale gold, it is manufactured from marine grade aluminum.  I find this butt to be a little nicer then the equivalent Aftco short 50lb stand up butt. It seems to be just a little more refined.

I used a 13 inch triangular fore grip, we had manufactured for BaR-BaR Tackle to our specification. We had them made because we believe the triangular fore grip is essential for big game rods ...  The triangular shape will help you keep the rod from twisting and turning in your hands, it also will help your grip when in a prolonged fight with a big fish ...  I simply don't know any one that has tried the triangle shape grip and didn't like them ..  

The 5 Alutecnos roller guides and tip are the 50lb - 80 lb class, perfect for this size and style of rod. These roller guides are about the same size as the Aftco HD guides ... They are very unique looking. In addition they have very a nice feature, you can remove the guide from the guide foot that is on the rod .. this makes it very easy to access the rollers for maintenance and cleaning ... They are a pale gold in color, to match the gold Alutecnos reels, and the gold nuts and hoods of the Alutecnos removable butt. The guides and butt have the same tight manufacturing standards as we've come to expect from the great Alutecnos reels.

 Each guide is under wrapped in black thread then attached with 4 layers of D size black thread, for maximum strength. This rod blank is the same beautiful dark tangerine as are all the Super Seeker blanks. The black under wraps are trimmed in pale gold. The fancy wrap is also black and gold and is between the first and second guide. Stand up rods normally don't have fancy wraps,  but i like this look. Don't let the beauty of this rod fool you, it is a very functional and  powerful rod.

This rod is a two piece rod .. there for  it may be shipped internationally by USPS for a reasonable shipping fee..   if the maximum length of the packages entering your country can exceed 50 inches...

We will be building a Short Stroker version of this rod that will be approximately 5 foot long. The five foot length will be available to be shipped to countries that have a 42 inch length limit .. IE .. Australia ...
