A truly beautiful- and early Biscuit (most likely?) Tin in wonderful condition. Both quality in manufacture- and excellent condition, make this an outstanding addition to a collection. Almost certainly English- and ca 1890-1910. No makers marks or branding at all- whilst typical of the various wonderful early tins that were produced for the competing Biscuit and confectionery makers- all keen to attract business with the novelty and beauty of there packaging. The tin shows two sense- one of a pair of men at cards, the other a similar scene with the same men (/) being offered various wares for sale, linen, hats and the like? Perhaps there is some story or allegory of virtue and vice being conveyed here? The sides of the tin feature an embossed Lions head as shown, the general figural theme of the tin I feel a kind of decorative pot or urn? If condition is important to your collection- then this will delight with the wonderful state of preservation of the litho process prints, and general lack of wear to the tin itself. A stunning early tin, worthy of any collection of quality.
