Are all commercial mycorrhizal products the same?
Absolutely not!
There are products available that have little or now inoculum content.
Some products contain ecto-mycorrhizae that are of no value to most plants other the evergreens and a few hardwood trees.
Other products claim to have several kinds of bacteria that offer added benefit.

Mycorrhizae- What is it?

Over 90% of all living plants form an association with beneficial fungi called mycorrhizae (mike-orrise-hey).
This symbiotic relationship occursnaturally in undisturbed ecosystems, howeverwhen soil is disturbed through plowing or tillage,the populations of these organisms is dramaticallyreduced.
Many agricultural (and garden) soilshave low or no mycorrhizae present.

What does mycorrhizae do?
This fungus is totally dependent upon its host plant for survival.
The plant supplies carbohydratesto mycorrhizae and in turn, mycorrhizae provides several services to the plant.
The most important is transporting moisture and nutrients to the roots through a complex network of threadlike filaments called hyphae.
Mycorrhizal hyphae can provide nutrients up to 50 times more efficiently than naked roots.
Mycorrhizal fungi also assist plants balance their supply ofnutrients so that optimum growth can occur.

Where is the proof that Symbios is an effective mycorrhizal inoculant?
In 2006, Ron Wallace used RTI inoculants to break the world record at 1,502 lbs. In 2007 it was used by growers that produced 10 of the top 20 largest pumpkins in the world, including Joe Jutra’s new record breaking pumpkin at 1,689 lbs.
