~Solid Oak~Louis XIII Style~QUALITY~circa 1850~

Just arrived from France, a beautiful 19^th century French stool or bench.  Definitely a statement piece, with a tall profile and lovely shaped, carved seat, the stool has classic bobbin turned legs as well as bobbin turned “X” stretchers with a large center finial.  The details are everywhere, from the carved beveled edge seat and the large carving on the seat top to the intricately turned legs that bespeak of craftsmanship from another era.

The stool has its original finish, darkened and rich from the years with a stunning aged patina.

Circa 1850, and truly a treasure to behold!

Measurements:

20 ½”H x 13” x 12 ½”.

Condition:

The stool is in good, sturdy condition for its age (over 150 years old!) with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings, and other imperfections (there is a chip on the finial tip and some chips along the edge of the seat top).  The solid oak carved seat has incurred two separations along the plank joints over the years that have been repaired….a normal and expected condition in antique stools with solid oak seats.   I always provide multiple photos that should be considered as part of the description and I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding.    Please keep in mind antique furniture should be purchased for its uniqueness, higher quality material and craftsmanship and antique patina, charm and character….NOT for like-new condition!!!
