TEST ROD Jigging Rod 65-200 Hopper Fuji SiC Guides

This is a test rod. It was used on two trips.

 This is a custom built 6 foot 65-200lb, 350 gram Jigging rod built with a Hopper blank and Fuji SiC guides.

The rod shown is the test rod. We tried it out in Homer Alaska jigging for Halibut and Ling Cod then a week ago in Texas jigging for YFT .. We absolutly love this new design.  We are going to offer it with any of the blanks we use to build jigging rods. 

In an effort to build a more versatile jigging rod, we decided to go with a 25 mm high profile guide for the first guide to allow the line to have a better flow from the reel. We felt if we could better align the first guide with the height of the reel it would cast much better then the lower profile guides.  It dose. 

As a casting expert .. I'm a lot better rod builder .. but i was able to cast with this new design reasonably well .. that means someone who actually can cast this type reel will do great with it .. 

In the pictures we have two shots of the rod being used .. one with just a jig on it and the other with the rod under some stress. It was a nice 25 lb Yellow eye snapper ..  Notice the line angle from the reel to the first guide. 

We wanted to keep the first guide as close to the reel as we could to give the rod the most lift, and control possible. With the high profile first guide we can do that.  I wish i could take the credit for this concept .. but i first saw it on a Zenaq Fokeeto Rod. However, they had a lower first guide.

From the gimbal up ..

This rod has a newer mushroom style butt cap that is slotted so it may be used in a fighting belt  This rod was built in a split butt design ... It is about 14 inches for the back of the reel seat to the end of the butt cap ..  the split butt design will fit under your arm with more comfort and less bulk. 

From the rear grip we go to the Fuji reel heavy duty graphite reel seat.

The fore grip is a triangular EVA foam grip we have had manufactured exclusively for BaR-BaR Tackle, to our specifications, it is custom shaped to fit the front of the reel seat and transition to the blank ...We found the triangular fore grip to be the perfect option to achieve outstanding stability with your rod. With the triangular fore grip, you will find you will no longer have the issue of your rod twisting and turning in your hands as you fight your fish.  

The guides are Fuji Silicon Carbide guides..  These  guide rings are one of the most advanced ceramics available today.The best guide made anywhere for braided line.  

The rod blank is a Hopper 65-200 lb 350 gram rod .. if you've not used one of these blanks .. they have some of the best action i've every had on a jigging rod .. not too stiff and not a lot of play .. like the bear said ..just right

I wrapped this rod in gold and black. I don't usually do a wrap on test rods .. but i did on this one

This is a test rod .. it was used on two trips ..  it has some rash on the spilt butt.  you can see it in the pictures . the rest of the rod is perfect. The rod is discounted accordingly...
