Also signed by Moses Gunn, Jim Davis and Emmy winner A. Martinez Inscribed photograph signed "Good Luck/Your Buddie [sic] /Clay/O'Brien", "To Howard Good Luck/Clint Howard", "To Howard Anderson,/Best Wishes/Pard!/Karry Maclane", "Moses/Gunn", "Best wishes/A Martinez", "Sean Kelly/'JIMMY'", "By Mitch Brown/Best Wisehs/Howard" and "Robert Caradine/'Slim'". Kelly and O'Brien have also drawn arrows to themselves in the photo. Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9¼ image, one surface. This is a cast photo from the 1974 TV series The Cowboys, based on the 1972 John Wayne movie of the same name. The Cowboys portrayed the trials and tribulations of seven boys working on a cattle ranch with veteran cowboys Jebediah Nightlinger ( MOSES GUNN) and Marshall Jim Winter ( JIM DAVIS, who later earned an Emmy nomination for his work on Dallas). The show lasted only one season, but it employed a number of child actors who went on to successful careers: ROBERT CARRADINE ( The Big Red One, Revenge of the Nerds, Lizzie McGuire, also appeared in the 1972 movie) CLINT HOWARD (appearances in over 190 movies and TV shows since 1963 as of this biography), CLAY O'BRIEN ( Mackintosh and T. J., also appeared in the 1972 movie), MITCH BROWN ( Santa Barbara), SEAN KELLY (also appeared in the 1972 movie) and KERRY MacLANE. This photo is also signed by A. MARTINEZ, who also appeared in the 1972 movie and went on to win an Emmy in 1990 for his work on Santa Barbara (1984-1992). Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Howard, MacLane and Brown traced over their signatures numerous times, Howard with blue and black ink; all are legible. Light scratches on image (not visible head-on).
