This is THE DIAMOND TREE - Jewish Tales From Around The World. Selected and Retold by Howard Schwartz and Barbara Rush. Illustrated by Uri Shulevitz.

PLEASE NOTE: The synopsis in the pre-filled out information is wrong. This is not about "a love affair between two teenaged girls".  This is a collection of 15 fairy tales and folktales for young children.

This is an unused hardcover book with the dust jacket. It is in pristine condition. Under the dust jacket is a blue cloth cover wwith silver gilt lettering and a tree on the front cover.

From the dust jacket:  "The magic of folktales never dims. They are among the very first stories a child hears. They are found in every culture, every country, every generation."

"Gathered here are fifteen Jewish fairy tales and folktales for young children, originating from as far back as the third century and as far away as Yemen, Iraq, and Morocco. Within these pages live Noah with his arkful of animals - and the giant, Og, who wants to hitch a ride. There's the very wise King Solomon, for whom it's never too late to learn something new, and the very foolish Chusham, who can't seem to follow even the simplest of directions. There are angels and goblins, rabbis and prophets. and lots of just plain good folk. There's even a Jewish Thumbelina named Katanya!"

The stories are illustrated with unique and beautiful watercolor paintings.

It's a lovely book.
