Additional personnel: Cornelius Bumpus (vocals, saxophone, keyboards); Guy Allison (keyboards); Carlos Guaico, Buck Johnson (background vocals). Producers: The Doobie Brothers, Charlie Midnight. Engineers: John Harris, Mitch Maketansky. Recorded live at Sony Music Studios, New York, New York on May 5 & 6, 1996 and Starwood Amphitheater, Nashville, Tennessee on May 11, 1996. This double CD live package, recorded at shows in support of the Wildlife Conservation Society (which receives a portion of the royalties), could easily function as a Doobie's Greatest Hits album. The performances are slick yet spirited enough to supplant the studio originals. Energized by the presence of all three of the group's original lead singers--Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, and Michael McDonald--the group tears through their A-list material with blazing energy, and the audience eats up every note (check out the whoops that follow the harmonica solo in "Long Train Running"). This is a great intro to a critically underrated band.
