Description: A unique hand cut wooden jigsaw puzzle, The Fair, complete, with 110 pieces, no artist signature. This is a non interlocking, color line cut puzzle, dating from about 1910-1915. Pieces are on solid wood, and quality is high. Because of the very good use of the color line cutting, it is a challenging puzzle despite the smaller size. This is most likely a one of a kind puzzle, coming from an attic estate sale and appearing to have been cut by one person for personal/family use. I believe either a Mr. C. R. Bangs or a Mary Bangs cut the puzzles (maybe both). One box, not yet listed, has "Cut by C. R. Bangs" on the box lid, another puzzle sold previously has the name "Mary Bangs" cut into the puzzle pieces. Most boxes have either Bangs or property of C. R. Bangs written somewhere on the box. These puzzles are from a very large lot of an attic estate find, three listed tonight, and the rest as they are completed. Puzzle resides in it's original box, a plain cardboard with a label on the short end. If you are a collector of this style and period of vintage puzzles, you won't be disappointed.
Size: Puzzle size 8 1/2" by 11 1/4". Box appx. 4" x 6" x 2 1/4".
Condition: Overall very good on puzzle and box. Pieces are in very good shape with no breaks, or warping. There are a few pieces where the paper is lifting at the edges and could easily be glued back down. One piece, on hat, has some indentations, but not breaks in the paper, this can be seen in the scan. Also some small surface flecks, as seen in scan. Box is sound and basically clean.
My apologies for camera flash glare on some of the pictures.
Please note: None of my images are enhanced in any way for clarity, contrast or color. They are displayed as they came directly off the scanner or from a digital camera, with adjustments for sizing only.
Please check the two other wooden puzzles from this group which I have listed tonight, for combined shipping. Choice of priority or parcel post shipping in the USA at a packaged weight of 1 lb. International first class shipping at calculated rate, based on weight.
Thanks for looking!!
