From the Preface:
Ruskin, in one of his friendly lecture-talks on art, with the sympathetic spiritual perception and originality of thoiught which characterize his uniqe genius, says: "Now, what we especially need for educational purposes, is to know, not the anatomy of plants, butt their biography - how and where they live and die, their tempers, benevolences, distresses and virtures." The quaint sentiment voiced by the great philosop'her many years ago is somewhat significantly in harmony with this dawning time of a simpler and brighter understanding of humanity and of nature. And could we find for such a flower biography a subject more entrancing, so deductyive, almost eerie, so plaintively sturdy, so instilled with romance, with patriotism and with pathos - as the Highland Heather?
This is a series of essays, poetry and prose about the heather. Accompanied by several black and white photographs.

OUR SHIPPING DEPARTMENT ON BREAK
Just look at those eyes. Our shipping department is proud of their service. They ship all orders within one day of receipt of payment and generally are able to ship the same day. All books are shipped in new, cardboard boxes or rigid cardboard envelopes. Fewer than 1% are shipped in alternative packaging because of being oversized. They do not use padded envelopes because they know those envelopes do not protect books. AND they firmly believe that profits should be made on the sale of the book and NOT on inflated shipping costs. For domestic shipping, the total shipping cost is the actual postage cost including delivery confirmation plus the actual cost of the shipping materials which is $0.67. Our shipping department is rewarded for outstanding work but maintain their svelte physique through the hard work they do.
