Tiffany Bogert Sterling Silver Stag Centerpiece 1860







 A Rare Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver Centerpiece

Hallmarked on underside Tiffany 550 Broadway NY, and B indicating that this piece was made by William Bogert (Important Silversmith working for Tiffany in the 1860's)

Bogert replaced Grosjean & Woodward as the major supplier of high end silver to Tiffany & Co. before the firm began producing its own silver in 1869

 

Round bowl with gilded interior and engraved fluted rim

Mounted with a wonderful pair of cast stag head handles

Stands on a tiered trumpet foot topped by a beaded knop

Engraved with period monogram (A S)

Measures 12" (handle to handle) x 9" high

Heavy gauge of silver with a weight of 33 oz

Great condition with light surface scratching on gilding

Circa 1860
