I bought two of these harnesses, one puppy and one monkey for my 16 month old twin boys. They're at the stage where they are curious about everything and don't want to be in the stroller all of the time. I didn't like holding their hands, because they are so small, and I felt like I was tugging on them all of the time. We used these for the first time at the zoo last week and they were perfect. The boys could take the lead and show us where they wanted to go. They adjusted small enough that they fit well and seemed comfortable. I had a few people say how cute they were and even ask where they could get one. The price is so reasonable and worth every penny for the piece of mind. I don't have to worry about them getting lost or stolen or running into a parking lot. I used to have negative feelings about harnesses, but I realized that it is no worse than restraining your child in a stroller, car seat or high chair. This actually gives them some freedom to explore. I know we will get many months of use from these. I wanted to add that I let the boys wear the back pack without the leash around the house for a day before we used them. My one son was a little hesitant at first, but I made the money talk to him, and he was ok. I think it's good I started with them early.
