We are pleased to announce our new line of Professional Grade Private Label Tonka Paint exclusively available from Tonka Town and this eBay store!  We have entered into an agreement with Sherwin Williams Automotive Paints to private label the original Tonka colors and offer them to the restorer and hobbiest in an easy-to-use spraycan.  This automotive grade acrylic enamel paint has been professionally matched to original Tonka colors and we currently offer 20 Original Tonka colors at this time.  If we don't have a color you need, please email us with your requests and we will consider adding it to our line.

Over the past year we have had requests from many people asking "What color Rustoleum or Plasti-Kote is closest to my original Tonka color?"  Well, unfortunately the answer was "none."  We now can help you restore your Tonka to the exact color it came from the factory.

Additionally, many hobbiests do not have access to a spraygun or air compressor or have the expertise to use one and were reluctant to spend the $100 it takes to buy a quart of automotive grade paint plus reducer and hardener.  Now whether you are restoring your personal childhood Tonka or just want to make sure the tailgate matches your original paint color, we have the solution.  In addition to the hassle of mixing the paint for a spraygun, you never know if your color is a real match to the original and because of the limited "pot life" of mixed paint, you always end up with wasted excess paint - with a spraycan, you have an unlimited shelf life and never have any paint that goes to waste!

Sherwin Williams has increased our wholesale cost twice over the past 18 months and yet we kept our original listing price, however as you probably know, paint is a petroleum derivitive and what have gas prices done over the past 18 months?  We finally have nudged our retail price up one dollar per can which still doesn't cover the wholesale price increases.

Postal regulations prohibit the mailing of aerosol cans as hazardous materials and therefore we will be shipping the paint via UPS Ground to the lower 48 U.S. states and Canada only.  Since UPS rates are both weight and zone-driven, it is much more economical to order additional cans and colors at the same time.  For instance, one can to Boston might cost $11 to ship, however two cans would only cost about $11.50 and three cans $12.00.  Additionally UPS Ground is faster than the post office (1 day to Dallas, 2 days to Chicago, 3 days to Atlanta, Los Angeles or Washington D.C., 4 days to Boston or Seattle).  Canadian buyers MUST use PayPal!

Any additional Tonka parts ordered at the same time will be given combined shipping which is only 75 cents per item.

In response to several inquiries, I spoke with Sherwin Williams to confirm which primer is best to use with this paint and they indicate that any quality automotive grade primer will work.  I personally use Rust-Oleum Automobile Primer which is "Fast Drying and Wet Sandable" in a spraycan and it's readily available from Home Depot or Lowes or just about any hardware store such as Ace.  Sherwin Williams acknowledged that they would probably not use anything less than Rust-Oleum Automobile Primer.  Thanks, Fred
