 This section is the song sung at the Red Sea from

Exodus 14:28-15:23

The piece measures approximate 8X18 inches.

 

This hand-written, ancient holy Torah fragment is possibly as old as the 17th Century.  It came from Morocco and it is written on a very rare Golden Brown deer skin.    Morocco was a leading center of scribal arts and Moroccan scribes are renowned for their beautiful calligraphy.  Scrolls from Morocco are very distinctive in their Golden Brown color and very rare as well.  This golden brown color is due to the process used in making the scroll.   This very soft leather parchment holds its ink very well and the hand-written letters remain very dark black and easy to read despite centuries of use in the Synagogue and the golden brown color.  This ancient piece is in excellent condition and will continue to be beautiful for centuries to come, making it a wonderful heirloom, a good investment and a lasting piece of history.
