TRANE CNT0916 HEAT PUMP DEFROST CONTROL. This control is made by RANCO and it was used on Tranr and GE heat pumps made in the late 1970's and early 1980's. It has a copper sensing bulb which attatches to the line coming out of the outdoor coil. It is a time/temperature control which iniates defrost if the coil temperature is below a certain level and the unit has run a certain amount of time between the last defrost cycle. It is a electro-mechanical control. It has a 24 volt timer motor. The minimum time between defrost cycles can be set at 30, 45, or 90 minutes.. It has a manual advance to check the defrost cycle. It is used in cojunction with a defrost relay. It has 2 24 volt connections for the timer and connections marked "1", "2", and "3" on the control. It can also be usedon other brands of heat pumps that use the Ranco defrost system I am a semi-retired HVAC contractor who is selling off his remaining inventory.
