This EBay Auction is for the custom digital transfer of one 3” 50ft reel of 8mm or silent Super-8 Film to a standard playable DVD.  Upon receiving your film reel, we will transfer it to a standard definition DVD and return your original film along with your new DVD & custom DVD case.  The S&H rate is to process the receipt of your incoming film package and to return ship your film and NEW DVD back to you using delivery confirmation.

(Technical Details:  Our HD cameras capture the detail!  For compatibility with popular DVD players, we then "down-convert" the video to the DVD standard (NTSC 720x480i).  8mm & S8 films are not widescreen by nature, so a costly widescreen version would just have black edges...  However, if you want a true high definition "Blu-ray" playback version, that truly retains the tightest grain quality of the original film, please contact us for pricing and we can setup your HD Blu-ray conversion on EBay as a custom store item... )

Most photo-store frame-by-frame services use affordable off-the-shelf transfer units that are operated by hourly employees with minimal training.  They may know how to run an automated machine, but films require specialized cleaning, handling & skilled color-correction editing to look their best!  Many films are 40 years old, very brittle and easily damaged.  Some films have turned green or brown from age and require the latest/greatest professional video editing techniques to look their best.

Just look at our sample DVD cover to see the high "picture" quality we achieve!  The pictures on the DVD cover are "stills" taken from actual film transfers.  During editing, we capture the images while the video is "paused" on a single frame, and copy it to the DVD cover.  Family members receiving DVDs as gifts open their presents to immediately see 6 - 12 beautiful pictures from long-ago! 

Our Transfer Method, Step-by-Step:
1.  All Films Are Thoroughly Cleaned using a gentle film cleaning product recommended by Kodak.  If needed, films are cleaned further until no dark residue remains on our film cleaning pads.
2.  Your Films Are Transferred Frame-by-Frame giving our HIGH DEFINITION cameras enough time to individually capture each separate 8mm "picture" frame.  Multiple thousands of these “pictures” are linked together to make smooth motion video.
3.  A Real Person Manually Adjusts the Camera Settings throughout the entire transfer to obtain the proper exposure, brightness, contrast and color correction levels.  Although we can set this to “automatic”, we prefer the quality obtained from personal monitoring.  We often rewind & re-transfer sections to obtain premium results, using the best of 2-3 separate captures.
4.  We Professionally Edit Your Video utilizing one of our multi-processor computer workstations.   We remove totally black or white areas and adjust color settings in areas that have turned red or green from age.  The final results look better than the original projected film!  Some S8 films used organic pigments that changed colors over time turning wedding dresses pale green...  We make those wedding dresses white again!  As of 2009, no one editing your film has less than 10 years of video editing & color-correction experience.  We identify & correct problems so that your video looks beautiful again!  We believe customers should only pay once & have it done right the first time!
5.  We Author Your “Master” DVD complete with a DVD submenu showing picture links to each reel's chapter.  If provided, we will also add precise chapter titles in the DVD Menu.  The best method is to give us a 6-9 word title for each reel.  If you do not know the content, we still provide a picture link to each chapter for easy DVD navigation.  You may also view the entire DVD from start to finish.

6.  Custom Color Labels are Designed using picture “stills” from your film reel.  We print directly to the surface of your DVD and include an attractive DVD case with matching artwork.  Every order now includes our archive quality ink & professional glossy DVD lamination! 
7.  Your Films and New DVDs Are Carefully Packed & Shipped using DELIVERY CONFIRMATION.  This method also provides tracking for the safety of your films.  PLEASE NOTE: because of our slow capture process & attention to detail, even small orders may take 3-4 weeks to process.  Therefore, you must setup a custom EBay Store item with us if you need us to guarantee a particular delivery date.  We can often make arrangements to work overtime & expedite your order...
8.  We Stand by Our Service and will fix any obvious mistakes if you let us know within 30 days of receiving your order back.  After 30 days, for a period of up to one year, we can send out exact copies of your standard playable DVD set, but can no longer make changes to you order, or replace the "master" AVI file set.  We keep an archive quality backup disc of all standard DVD orders indefinitely.

For Those Still Considering Doing It Yourself. . .
You cannot achieve the quality of our transfers using a projector and video camera, regardless of your equipment and/or technique...  However, we realize that many customers do have the ability to edit their own video using modern home computers.  We can upgrade your order and provide the high quality NTSC AVI DV file set (720x480p) instead of the standard playable DVD.  We can also provide pricing to provide the "master" (unedited) HD MJPEG source files (1920x 1080p) in HIGH DEFINITION!  With these options you then get the best of both worlds - the ability to do your own editing with the benefit of having the best quality transfers already done for you!  Please email us for AVI or HD MJPEG pricing.
