This is a brand new Tree Spade with "quick-tach" type mounting plate for your skid loader or compact industrial tractor. The spade is 3/8" thick and about 47" long. The cutting edge is roughly 20" wide. This type of spade does not rely on machine down pressure, rather, the force to penetrate the soil is supplied by the drive wheels. This results in an extremely efficient method to dig holes to plant nursery stock.

The unique shape of this spade does two things when the spade is used to transplant. First, the wider cutting edge helps to hold the tree ball together, rather than splitting the ball the way a pointed spade does. The other advantage to this spade is the concave portion of the cutting edge that allows you to sever the feeder root of nursery stock, as opposed to glancing off of one side or the other, and further disturbing the tree ball/root system. This tool works quite well when transplanting stock that is 1.5" caliper or less. It will also dig much larger holes or trenches and is very efficient with its wider cutting edge to remove soil.

The mounting plate is 1/4" A36 Structural Steel plate, with the top edge being 3/8" thick. The slots at the bottom are "doubled", so the point where the pins lock is 5/8" thick. The sides and bottom flange are formed and the slots will accommodate virtually any skid loader with the two pin, quick attach system. This is the same plate we use to mount industrial snowplows weighing in excess of 1500 pounds.
