This gorgeous stone is a segment of a huge Tanzanite Crystal! Two sides of the stone are part of natural crystal faces; they are the side facing you in the Gallery picture and the next one, and the 'end' of the piece displayed in the third picture. The back of the stone is a lighter purple color. The bottom of the stone as oriented in the Gallery picture is the triangle shape (shown in the last picture). As you can see, the stone is wedge-shaped. The color is lighter on the back than the front, as shown in the pictures. There are several places where irridescent sparkles can be seen, and the flash on the back suggests asterism! This is an unusually large piece of tanzanite, and would make a lovely display specimen that will no doubt increase in value over time, given the current state of the mining of this material. A skilled carver could produce an extremely valuable and rare treasure. And if you are a cutter, there are a number of cabochons waiting to be set free, but be sure to check the orientation of the material before you start; a friend cut some rough that I acquired from the same source, and reported that he had a fine star tanzanite cabochon! The buy-it-now price is only $3 per carat, which is quite reasonable for tanzanite these days. You might want to search the internet for large tanzanite crystals and rough in good cabbing carving grade to compare prices.
Tanzanite prices have risen sharply in recent years, due to the scarcity of the material, and of course the larger sizes are extremely rare. We've had this piece for about 8-9 years, and have decided not to cut it. I'd really like to sell it to a collector who'll keep it in one piece. As a bit of incentive, I'll mount it on a nice acrylic base for free at request of the winner! Please allow a little extra time for delivery if you want it mounted. (RCB-0402-0001)

If you have a problem with your purchase, please contact us immediately to see if we can resolve it. If not, you may request a return authorization code, which must be displayed prominently on the label of the return package, which must be shipped within 7 days. Insurance is required on all returns. When the item arrives in good condition, a refund will be issued, including your original shipping charge. A restocking fee of 10% will be charged, with a minimum of $2.50 and a maximum of $25.00.
