This is very choice example of this Roman Provincial Bronze coin from the province of Antioch, Syria. This bronze coin of Domitian has a very attractive red green and gold patina and is certainly one that you will want for your collection. The Roman imperial ae as was reissued under Augustus during the coin reform starting in 23 BC. Generally produced in copper and weighing ususally between 9 and 10 grams although as years went on they became smaller. Its denomination made it worth a fraction of the sestertius. two and one half asses equaled one sestertius.
