Synopsis
A baker in colonial New York learns the importance of generosity from an old woman who visits his shop on St. Nicholas Day.
Based on a folktale from the Colonial Period, this is the story of a honest, if not exactly generous, baker. On Christmas Eve an old woman comes into the bakery asking for a bakers dozen, or 13, Saint Nicholas cookies. The baker insists that a dozen is 12, not 13 and so the woman puts a curse on him. Only after Saint Nicholas himself comes to the baker in a dream does he realize the importance of generosity and the curse is removed.
