18th century poet and hymnodist William Cowper was referrred to by Samuel Taylor Coleridge as "the best modern poet" - read Cowper's intimate thoughts in this four volume set of letters & correspondence and see what made him such a special man.

Volume I [1]: 497 pages; Volume II [2]: 495 pages; Volume III [3]: 495 pages; Volume IV [4]: 550 pages. All four volumes bound in cordovan cloth. Spines are sunned and panel edges toned. Hinges of Vol. I are cracked, though holding; remaining hinges are starting. The textblocks are square and the pages intact. Infrequent and sparse application of marginalia. Starting at head of Vol. I, 5.5 inch crack along rear joint crease and 4 inch crack along front joint crease. Moderate chipping at spine heads; mild chipping to feet and corners. Top edges gilt; fore & bottom edges deckled. Slight edgewear. Ex-library.
