Mixed Media:

8"x10" digital photograph (full bleed). Archival photo papers and inks are used. Chips and other specimens are mounted with threads and/or acid free adhesives.

Framing:

The artwork is framed in an 8"x10" black wood shadow box frame, with glass, using suspension framing techniques. All framing materials are acid free. A narrative about the artwork that includes the artist’s signature is placed on the back of the artwork.

About this Artwork:

This artwork is a mixed media display celebrating the silicon wafer. This is one of seven designs I currently have available in the 8"x10" size on this topic. Each design has a different background image of the completed silicon wafer included with the artwork. If this work interests you please checkout my other "Making of a Chip" designs. Also, I have some larger and similiar designs in the 11"x14" size. 

The display describes the process of making chips, from sand to completed computing devices. It has a large background image of the chips on the completed silicon wafer. On the back is a narrative describing the display, the chip making process, and the artist’s signature. The artwork contains elements used in the making of silicon wafers, as well as, two 100mm silicon wafers (a polished and a finished etched wafer).

General Information:

These artworks are the creation of ChipScapesTM artist Steve Emery. ChipScapesTM are photographs taken of computer chips, boards, and other computer artifacts. They are sort of chip landscapes, or ChipScapesTM for short. Most often a macro-lens or microscope is used with special lightning to achieve these unique artworks.

This artwork is part of the ChipScapesTM Historical Series dedicated to preserving and sharing chips that changed the world. ChipScapesTM are great collectibles or gifts for the technology savvy.
