If you want answers, though, be prepared to find your own, since none are offered. This title makes an excellent basis for examining school library issues. Chapters are devoted to broad topics-leadership, planning, and management; personnel; resources and equipment; facilities; and district, regional, and state leadership-with specific scenarios for elementary, middle, and high school media centers. The most practical feature of this book is the appendix section, which contains the American Association of School Librarians' position statements on various subjects such as access to resources, information literacy, staffing, flexible scheduling, etc. Also included are samples of selection and reevaluation-of-materials policies. The bibliography is a useful tool for purchasing books on managing a media center. Because of its theoretical nature, this is a solid choice for academic libraries and professional collections serving library school students; however, most school libraries will not need to purchase it.
