CURLY TOP: Shirley is the destitute little orphan girl who lives in an orphanage and plays cupid for her beautiful sister. Never one to abandon her roots, Temple returns to the orphanage for some rousing song and dance routines with her friends. Features the hit songs "Curly Top," "When I Grow Up" and "Animal Crackers In My Soup." A remake of the 1919 Mary Pickford production DADDY LONG LEGS and remade again in 1955 with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron.
HEIDI: Set in the Swiss Alps during the 19th Century, the film opens with Heidi's Aunt Dete (Mady Christians) taking her to live with the girl's grandfather Adolph Kramer (Jean Hersholt), a rather ill-tempered hermit. Although the old man at first refuses to speak to the girl, he soon grows to love her. Because of her he agrees to attend church, and the two are accepted into the local community. Heidi's aunt suddenly returns, kidnapping the girl and taking her to the home of her wealthy employer Herr Sesemann (Sidney Blackmer), in Franfurt. He needs a child to spend time with Klara (Marcia Mae Jones), his invalid daughter, since he's often away on business. Heidi soon tries to escape, while her grandfather has already begun the 100-mile journey to Franfurt to find her.

BRIGHT EYES: Little orphan Shirley Temple gets in the middle of a nasty custody battle in BRIGHT EYES, one of Temple's first and best movies, most famous for the song "On the Good Ship Lollipop."
REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM: Allan Dwan re-teams with Shirley Temple in this adaptation of the children's classic, which shares nothing with the well-known story except its title. After a nationwide search to find a Little Miss Universe, cereal mogul Cyrus Bartlett (Paul Harvey) hears the voice of an eight-year-old girl, Rebecca Winstead (Shirley Temple), and tells ad executive Tony Kent (Randolph Scott) that she's the girl he wants. But when the announcer mistakenly tells the girl that her audition is over, Rebecca's stepfather Henry Kipper (William Demarest), leaves the studio with her. Since they've just been evicted from their hotel, he leaves her with her Aunt Miranda (Helen Westley) at Sunnybrook Farm. Realizing the mistake, Tony goes into a tailspin. While in the country, Rebecca bumps into Tony, who has never seen her, and happens to own the adjoining property. Tony's announcer soon arrives, telling him that he's been unable to find the girl with the voice. But when Tony happens to be talking on the phone to Bartlett while Rebecca is singing in the background, they realize they've found their Little Miss Universe. Temple is at her energetic best in this wholesomely entertaining film, which features a fine supporting cast, including Gloria Stuart of TITANIC fame.

She does this by charming him with several charming song and dance numbers, as well as her irresistible personality.

Standard Temple plot, but better than average.
JUST AROUND THE CORNER: After losing his money during the Depression, Shirley's down-and-out father becomes a maintenance man. But poverty doesn't dim Shirley's spirits, and before long she becomes fast friends with the local millionaire, who, of course, comes to the family's rescue.
