Overstreet grading scales:

9.9 Mint:  Near perfect in every way. Cover flat w/no wear. Inks are bright. Spine is tight and flat. Staples clean, centered and original. Paper is white and supple.      

9.4  Near Mint:  Cover flat w/no wear. Inks are bright. Slight foxing. Corners square. Spine is tight and flat. Staples centered, slight discoloration. Almost no stress lines. Paper is off-white to cream, supple.     

8.5 Very Fine:  Limited bindery/printing defects. Cover is almost flat w/minor wear. Inks are bright w/slight fade. Minor foxing. Corners square w/slight blunting, no creases. Spine is tight and flat. Staples slightly discolored and very slight tears. Almost no stress lines. Paper is cream to tan and supple. Slight interior tears allowed.     

6.0  Fine:  Minor bindery/printing defects. Lies relatively flat w/minor cover wear and minor/moderate creases. Inks faded, corners blunted; minor staining, soiling, discoloration and/or foxing. A minor spine roll allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples discolored, minor tears and stress cracks, as well as rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple. Minor interior tears and loose centerfold.     

4.0 Very Good:  Cover shows moderate to significant wear, color faded; loose, but not detached.  Corners blunted; minor staining, soiling, discoloration and/or foxing. Moderate spine roll and/or 1" spine split.  Staples discolored, minor tears and stress cracks, as well as rust migration. Paper is brown, but not brittle.    Minor interior tears and loose centerfold.     2.0  Good:  Shows substantial wear, often considered a reading copy.     1.0  Fair:  Shows heavy wear.
