Jimmy Bivins was the interim or duration champion while Joe Louis was in the army, but it's often forgotten that he also was the interim light heavyweight champ at the same time, while Gus Lesnevich was in the Coast Guard. Bivins made a career of beating former and future champions but, amazingly, never fought for a title. He fought Louis during the latter's comeback, he boxed Louis in an exhibition and he thoroughly beat Lesnevich in a non-title bout. This is a 12-page booklet, 8 1/2 x 11 inches, that details Bivins' fight career and includes three photos of him. However, it also includes details of two other fascinating aspects of his life. It tells about his bizarre knockout victory over Coley Wallace, a one-punch KO with Wallace far ahead on points. And it also tells of the elder abuse Bivins suffered in the 1990s. He was found in an attic, apparently starving to death. He weighed 110 pounds. Old friends saved him and enabled him to regain his health.
