The Trumpet of the Lord, a collection of over 100 descants for Bb Trumpet to accompany familiar church hymns. Most are for solo trumpet, some are duets and trios. They are intended for playing along with congregational singing, though can be played as solos by stringing several together. Difficulty level is suitable for advanced high school player. Style varies from heroic to subdued depending on the nature of the hymn it accompanies. Each is written with the melody (in trumpet's key) on one staff and the descant on an adjoining staff.
In addition, this is the only known book that contains both a history of the Biblical trumpets including the pair of silver trumpets of Moses and the shofar (Ram's Horn), and a liturgy suitable introducing and blowing the shofar in the church service. A list of all 109 verses in the old and new testament that mention the trumpet, cornet, or shofar (ram's horn)are included in an appendix. Composer/Author: H. Matthew Ward
