Three Crown China Germany, Hand-Painted Woman & Cupids

Offered for auction: A wonderful, very colorful hand-painted plate marked "Three Crowns China, Germany." The plate is decorated with a very voluptuous woman in flowing blue robes (slightly slipping), walking in a garden, with naked cupids at her feet; the hand-painted design is surrounded by a luster border and embossed trim.

At 8-1/8 inches wide, this very decorative plate is in very good condition. It has rich color and detail, and the luster trim around the outer rim is intact and solid. There is one brown spot above the woman's head (photo at right), and some wear around the edges of the painted decoration (and a few very light scratches, as visible in the photos). There are some very fine hairlines on the underside (base) that do not show on the surface (see photos above); there are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, or other flaws.

This plate is signed "W. Payne" in the lower left corner. I'm not sure of the age, but I would guess it is from the period 1910-1925.
