FINE & RARE c1891 TIFFANY STERLING SILVER "EGYPTIAN REVIVAL" EWER; CLASSIC RAISED URN OR HELMET FORM; BRILLIANTLY CARVED EGYPTIAN PALMETTE, STAR BURST LEAF AND SCROLLING ACANTHUS DECORATION; EXCLLENT CONDITION; 29 OUNCES

We are exceptionally pleased to offer this stunning c1891 Tiffany sterling silver ewer.

In the highly coveted Egyptian revival design.

Much more rare than Tiffany Japanesque. Since the Egyptian motif Tiffany was produced for a much shorter time period, mostly during the 1870s and 80s.

Tiffany Egyptian represents Louis C. Tiffany's interest in Egyptian and Moorish art. Largely the result of his studies and travel in Europe and north Africa as a young man. And later his amassing a fine collection of Etruscan, Egyptian and Moorish art, mostly jewelry.

This stunning Egyptian revival ewer beautifully illustrates Mr. Tiffany's passion with this exotic motif.

This stunning Tiffany sterling silver ewer in tall, slender raised urn form. The high arching handle and everted spout also referred to as helmet design.

The ewer is a superb re-creation of many thousands of years old Egyptian drinking vessels.

The shoulder and base adorned with beautifully detailed rolling acanthus and petal decorative bands. Lush satin chased finish detail, to the individual petal centres.

Thick, well cast panelled C-scroll handle. Culminating in boldly fashioned raised palmette and bead terminals. The palmette a central design feature in Egyptian decorative arts.

The upper handle with a second terminal. A brilliantly rendered star burst leaf with raised oval to centre. Set to the interior wall of the ewer. Providing a visual feast for the eyes, when the piece is viewed from above.

Never monogrammed.

This extremely fine c1891 Tiffany sterling silver Egyptian Revival ewer is 12 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/2 handle to spout. Exceptionally thick heavy guage sterling construction, weighs 29 ounces.

Fully hallmarked as shown. Including an early Tiffany pattern number "10529" denoting c1891 production. This represents a later example of the Egyptian Revival movement, as most pieces are from the 1870s to 1880s.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands perfectly firm on table or serving tray. The brilliantly carved Egyptian palmette, star burst leaf and scrolling acanthus decoration retains most all of its original crisp, sharp detail.

For the discerning collector of the finest late 19th century Tiffany sterling. Focused upon examples in the rarely seen Egyptian motif. An extremely fine c1891 Tiffany sterling silver Egyptian revival leaf and palmette ewer. In excellent condition.

Please feel free to inquire directly about this, or any item we've listed. Whether the item is alone or part of a set. We very much welcome your interest. We are collectors first. As such, we are quite easy to work with.

We happily combine items when shipping, saving you costs. We ship twice weekly, usually US Postal Priority. Fully insured for domestic packages, and air parcel overseas. We charge a bit more than actual cost for custom size boxes, shipping materials and to pay for professional packing.

We make great effort to accurately describe each item listed. Returns are accepted, if either condition, country of origin or dating is significantly incorrect. In such cases we refund your shipping costs as well. Like you, we are only human, and make mistakes. Hopefully, not too many.

Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse. Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand.

Please note, Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.

We have over 5060 feedbacks. And, are quite proud of our 99.% plus rating.

We received favorable notice in the March 12th, 2006 New York Times. Page 8, Business Section, in a well written article on silver collecting. Copy furnished upon request.

From our personal collection, an elegant mid 19th century coin silver basket, from John and Edward Moore, of Tiffany fame. Illustrated in the cover article of May/June 2008 Silver Magazine, page 27.

Enjoy....and good fortune in your bidding.
