We are exceptionally pleased to offer this stunning c1891 Tiffany sterling silver ewer. In the highly coveted Egyptian revival design. Much more rare than Tiffany Japanesque. Since the Egyptian motif Tiffany was produced for a much shorter time period, mostly during the 1870s and 80s. Tiffany Egyptian represents Louis C. Tiffany's interest in Egyptian and Moorish art. Largely the result of his studies and travel in Europe and north Africa as a young man. And later his amassing a fine collection of Etruscan, Egyptian and Moorish art, mostly jewelry. This stunning Egyptian revival ewer beautifully illustrates Mr. Tiffany's passion with this exotic motif. This stunning Tiffany sterling silver ewer in tall, slender raised urn form. The high arching handle and everted spout also referred to as helmet design. The ewer is a superb re-creation of many thousands of years old Egyptian drinking vessels. The shoulder and base adorned with beautifully detailed rolling acanthus and petal decorative bands. Lush satin chased finish detail, to the individual petal centres. Thick, well cast panelled C-scroll handle. Culminating in boldly fashioned raised palmette and bead terminals. The palmette a central design feature in Egyptian decorative arts. The upper handle with a second terminal. A brilliantly rendered star burst leaf with raised oval to centre. Set to the interior wall of the ewer. Providing a visual feast for the eyes, when the piece is viewed from above. Never monogrammed. This extremely fine c1891 Tiffany sterling silver Egyptian Revival ewer is 12 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/2 handle to spout. Exceptionally thick heavy guage sterling construction, weighs 29 ounces. Fully hallmarked as shown. Including an early Tiffany pattern number "10529" denoting c1891 production. This represents a later example of the Egyptian Revival movement, as most pieces are from the 1870s to 1880s. In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands perfectly firm on table or serving tray. The brilliantly carved Egyptian palmette, star burst leaf and scrolling acanthus decoration retains most all of its original crisp, sharp detail. For the discerning collector of the finest late 19th century Tiffany sterling. Focused upon examples in the rarely seen Egyptian motif.
