Tag reads: "God of Peace and Plenty  (Lonoikamakahiki) This God was Hawaii's first Flower Child.  Through his influence on agriculture the people had plenty.  He was always honored at happy happenings and festivals, during which all war and violence was kapu (forbidden).  A HIP Original from Hawaii. Made in Hawaii (LAVA)."

Lono was the god of peace, arts, fertility, and agriculture.  He is also seen as the provider of food.  This reminds me of Lono's wife and children being very hungry, so he descended into the ground and his wife went and cried where he disappeared.  A few days later, a breadfruit tree appeared at that spot.

This necklace is in excellent condition and it appears to be made of the same lava / resin mix as the more familiar Coco Joe's.  HIP Original was in operation for a very short time, so this pendant is a very rare collectible!
