The tippman 98 custom is such a great marker. It is rugged enough to take the abuse of competition yet remains accurate and fast enough to be a serious competitor. The maintenance of this marker is so easy and the customization features availiable for it are nearly endless. I personally prefer a simple and to the point marker and the 98 custom meets my expectations in every field.

This marker takes a beating and keeps on going. Easy to clean, service, upgrade and use. It's the basic paintball marker, but it just works and works and works. The Tippmann 98c is what most paintball fields rent out. It's trust worthy. It's not a fancy, ultra shooting gun, but it will help you learn the basics and have fun while doing it. With the stock barrel, it doesn't have great range. It will shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger, but it's not designed for full auto. If you want that, you can upgrade the 98C to handle full auto, but then you might want to look at an A5 or X7. Price wise, it's a great buy and good starter.
Great Product. Durable, powerful, and accurate. Highly recommended for all paintball players. I've just started playing paintball and what I was looking for was flexiblity to use one marker to any type of game. In this case, The Alpha black paintball marker is good on speedball because of its accuracy and great on woodsball because of it power and durability. I just hope the price could be a little bit less.
This product is one of the most customizable markers on the market today. It's also one of the most reliable which is why so many fields use them as rentals. Originally, I had the drop in electronic kit but soon realized that it was more than I needed, even on a professional level. So I dropped it out and went back to basics. Besides, any experienced player knows that with good trigger manipulation you can make up for it, and it only takes a single shot to end your opponents day. Full Auto is great for defensive players who need to lay suppressive and grazing fire but for an offensive player it's not really needed. Another nice feature is the removable elbow which allows for quicker cleaning for ball breakages. The balance is pretty good, a little front heavy but the expansion chamber or fore-grip makes up for it. I recommend that you upgrade your stock barrel. The longer the barrel, the more friction occurs between the barrel and the paintball. And consequently more air pressure is needed to force the paintball out of paintball barrels. I use a 12" 32 Degrees Ice Cold Medium Bore Barrel which is just that, Ice Cold!!! With your velocity set at 285 fps and the use of quality (Diablo Blaze) medium bore paintballs this barrel shows no mercy. Don't waste your time trying to hide because with this barrel you should dominate the field.Read full review
I bought this paintball marker because my friends and I decided to take up paintballing. I really didn't know anything about it so I did some research. I found out that Tippmann is the best beginner marker there is. When I started shopping around for markers I was a little shocked by how expensive they could be. Based on this discovery, I decided to buy it used. I came to ebay and searched around. There was a lot to choose from! I ended up bidding on one that was a few years ago but wasn't used very often. The auction included the marker, mask, hopper, 9oz CO2 tank, 3 paintball pods and a belt for the pods and tank. I was very pleased when I first used my new marker. I couldn't have found a better deal for under $100.
