Ray Peck
Through his entire life in Southeast Alaska, Ray Peck has demonstrated deep respect for his Tlingit Indian heritage. He is Raven of the Beaver house of Angoon (the last traditional Tlingit village in Southeast.) Growing up in an esteemed Tlingit household, he was influenced by traditional Northwest Coast Art forms and wanted to express his heritage through carving. After high school he traveled to Sitka to continue his training in form line design and carving, apprenticing with Master Carver, David Williams. Now a skilled instructor in his own right, Ray returned to Juneau to pass on his heritage and love of the art form as cultural instructor with the Juneau School District Indian Studies Program. Ray's commissioned work is enjoyed throughout Southeast Alaska as a popular designer for Native corporations and organizations.
