	GSSI/Toptronics has designed and patented (in co-operation with a US engineering company), a Digital (HD) antenna to receive digital signals on air. The DA-001 digital HD antenna is designed and patented for indoor reception for urban and suburban use for over the air reception of digital signals.     The DA-001 has a special low noise amplifier which is tuned for best digital reception. Through the use of advanced digital signal generating equipment, the factory has been able to insure that the DA-001 was designed to receive digital signals even in “fringe” areas. Additionally, the DA-001 can still receive the traditional analog signals if using an analog TV receiver with no converter box.
Effective Jan. 1, 2008 the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) allocated $990,000,000.00 USD to allow a $40.00 rebate to US consumers who purchase a converter box to allow conversion of the digital over-the-air signal for use with older analog TV sets. Two rebates will be allowed per household. Currently there are approximately 80,000,000 analog TV sets installed in the US.    The consumer will need a converter box and a digital antenna in order to receive the digital signals efficiently. The consumer who purchases a HDTV will also need a digital antenna to get over-the-air broadcasts.
All broadcast signals depend on strength of the broadcast signal, distance from the broadcast tower, weather conditions, terrain and obstructions. All of these elements can effect the reception of the signal. If an analog signal is weak the result is usually a snowy or distorted picture. With digital signals you either have a great viewable picture or no picture at all. If all of the digital packets are not received the picture will freeze, go in and out with bars, or in most cases result in no picture at all. The days of Johnny holding aluminum foil on the “Rabbit Ears” are over.    Local HDTV channels broadcasts over the air and offers superior picture quality over the compressed signals transmitted over cable and satellite, and the most important thing is... It is FREE!! Effective Feb. 17, 2009 all analog TV transmissions will cease and only digital broadcasts will be permitted.
