The Struggles of Brown, Jones, and Robinson: By One of the Firm by Anthony Trollope. London: Smith, Elder & Co. 1870. 1st English edition. This short work appeared in the Cornhill Magazine in 1861-62. An unauthorized edition was brought out in the U.S. by Harper and Brothers in 1862, but Smith, Elder & Co. did not choose to publish this novel in book form until 1870. A loosely written, satirical sketch It was meant to he funny, was full of slang, and was intended as a satire on the ways of trade. The English edition contains 4 full page illustrations not found in the American edition. 254 pages plus 2 pages of announcements of other Trollope books. Hardbound book elaborately decorated with gilt and black. Book is in very good condition with wear at the extremities.
