Tuck Better Little Book 1940s Abraham Lincoln

Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd – Tuck’s Better Little Books series – Abraham Lincoln, c1940s.

This is a decent example of one of the scarce Better Little Books that were published by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd in around early 1940s. Tuck published dozens of these little 3½” x 2½” 32-page books (that were handy to read during air-raids to take your mind off things!) and this one is titled Abraham Lincoln. Some of these Better Little Books are factual (with quite a few being based on Military subjects – that of course were highly relevant during the 1940s); some contain fiction. And others feature the stories / biographies of historical figures. Six pages contain illustrations. The rest are filled with text. Please note that there are a couple of minor ‘issues’ with this book. It comes from a collection where the original (1940s) owner – G.P. Goodman has stamped his / her name in ink on title page. (It looks to be the lettering from a John Bull Printing Set, or similar). And also it has been covered in clear plastic, for protection. Under the plastic, on the front is a small white sticker with the number 46 on it. Other than that there are no rips, grazes or scribbles etc in the book. In the main the book is in very good clean and complete condition.

It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. PACKAGING.    Please note that all of my items are well-packed in thick card or in boxes, and then wrapped in good quality brown paper.   I do not make any separate charge for packaging materials - everything is included in the final price. Many of my feedback comments mention my good packaging and I will of course continue to meet my own standards.

POSTAL DISPUTE - If you are at all worried about the effects of the postal dispute and would like me to delay posting your item please let me know and I will be happy to send it when you want me to.      Two years ago, when there were a series of one and two-day strikes the effects were minimal, and although the odd item took a couple of days extra to arrive, I was relieved and am happy to report that everything was perfectly safe at all times. Items being mailed abroad did not seem to be affected at all.
