Two sweet little cloth dolls possibly from the 1920's. Both seem to have a molded cloth face, arms and legs. Both are approximately 7 inches tall.
One little doll has two charming braids down her back. Her face seems to be finely painted. I believe all her clothes are cotton and she has two narrow leather strips on the bottom of her feet. Brown thread is looped through these to give the impression she is wearing a type of sandal. Her body may be filled with sawdust and her legs are coming loose from her body. On both legs, (twice on one...the front and back), Handmade in Mexico is stamped in tiny letters. Other than the legs and the aged look about her and her clothes, I can't find any other problems with this little girl.
The other little doll has blond curly hair that can be seen under the front edge of her bonnet around her face. Unfortunately, her forehead has been dented in, though this does not affect her painted features. One of her arms is detached from the shoulder but remains in her sleeve. Her blue felt bonnet and top have suffered moth damage. The ruffle on her once white with pink embroidered pattern skirt has come unsewn in one spot and at the seam in the back. The front top of her white slip has ome away from her body. She wears long bloomers. She wears little ovals of wood, once painted white, nailed or pinned to her feet.
