U.S. 03 Springfield Composite Drill Team Buttstock N/R

You are bidding on a U.S. GI issue brown composite stock for the U.S. 03 Springfield service rifle. These stock were intended for use on 03 rifles that were to be used for practicing precision close order drill as they do not break near as easily as wood stocks when dropped. These came from a high school JROTC unit that had them in storage for use for a long period of time for color guard use and close order drill, but that recently had the rifles destroyed (sob) due to the school district's zero tolerance policy towards weapons on school grounds. Comes with a rusted buttplate assembly which would clean up with some effort and/or refinishing. Stock has lots of extenal scratches but no cracks. With a bit of sanding and painting, these can look quite nice and are a good rough weather use stock on an already sporterized 03. Please DO NOT sporterize an original condition 03 Springfield though! I've even seen customers make these into inert training replicas with a piece of wood for a receiver and a metal pipe.
