U.S. ARMY - ARTILLERY RETREAT FROM LONG ISLAND - 1776

Depicting  the nightime evacuation by George Washington during  the Battle of Long Island in the Revolutionary war of Independence on August 27th 1776.

From " The United States Army And Navy " by Lieutenant - Colonel A.Wagner and Commander J.D.Kelley which details the history of these two forces from revolution to the end of the Spanish - American war.

This an original chromolithograph print published in 1899 by The Werner Company and not to be confused with later issues or reprints.

Very fine, virtually unmarked condition with bright, rich colouring.

Measuring approx. 13" x 9" (330mm x 230mm) image area only with titled margins beyond , perfect for framing.
