From the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES CERAMIC DEPARTMENT, three trial glaze tiles or color slabs. These little tiles are about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" square and all have holes (in the making) which would have allowed these tile to have been strung along with a group of several either in a ring or rack for color reference. The colors on the tiles are pretty accurate. The left tile is a streaky red brown and it is crayon marked with a number (illigible) and overprinted with a UND stamp.  The center tile is a very dark violet and has a hand written reverse mark " 2 SWEETLAND BLUE,"  overprinted with UND GRAND FORKS ND. It is the thickest of the three at about 3/16."  The right tile is a mottled red brown and is a very thin tile.  It has lots of  hand written numbers on the reverse and  "RED" and overstamped the same as the middle tile.   These are all in good shape... a little extra white on the first tile and a couple of glazed over color misses on the center tile and some edge roughness on the reverse edges of the middle tile, but no chips or other flaws on the front.  Nice lot.
