1899 $2 SILVER CERTIFICATE

GEORGE WASHINGTON PORTHOLE

This is an artistic and distinctively different note, it is one of the HARDEST TO FIND--LARGE SIZE NOTES: the 1899 $2.00 SILVER CERTIFICATE, in VERY GOOD-FINE condition in my opinion.  Its book value is $285.   President Washington is flanked by alagorical figures representing Agriculture and Industry.   This is one of the most beautiful notes ever printed in the United States.  The 1890s were a good time for US Paper Money.   The Blue Seal is Large and on the right side.   It has the signature combination of SPEELMAN-WHITE. 

The note is fairly clean on the front and less so on the reverse  Its all there and attracative with 4 full corners.  It has no writing, tears and no ink.   It has no pin holes, but many visible wrinkles and minimal edge wear that does include a tiny 1/32" split center right edge.   Its a very good looking example of a note over 80 years old.  So if you need it to add something special to your silver certificate collection this may be just the opportunity, don't let it slip by. 

Book values for this note in VERY GOOD run from $285 to $325.  This auction has no reserve and starts at 1 cent just like all my auctions.  This is a special, hard to find note with some of the best art work in the history of US Currency.  The pictures can be enlarged so you can get a good look.  Don't pass this one up...
