This is a distinctively different pair of notes.  They are two of the HARDEST TO FIND--Extra SMALL SIZE FRACTIONAL NOTES, the 1874 $.25 US NOTE and the 1874 10 cent, in Very FINE condition, but you can judge for yourself to make the final decision with the photos above, which can be enlarged.  Both have folds and wrinkles and the 25 Cent note has 1 pin hole.  The photos will let you see exactly what's offered.  They are both very attractive.

In the years of the US Civil War starting in 1862 there was a critical shortage of coins.  It became such a problem that for 14 years the government issued small size notes called FRACTIONAL CURRENCY.  These notes were from the very last batch of fractional paper money ever issued by the USA.

The notes are both circulated, but flat and fully intact.  They look good and would be great for a display.  The idea of substituting paper "coins" to replace the hoarded metal coins just didn't work out and these are an excellent example of old paper fractional money, they are often very worn out when they are found.  This is about as old as US paper money gets.

The art work is simple and the notes are less than one quarter that of the modern notes. 

Book value is $50.00 together in this condition, $275 in CU each, so place a bid and enjoy a bargain.   Some retailers and Shop at Home TV charge much more that book value for this note when they can find it.  The notes do not come up for auction very often and often sell for well over book value even on Ebay!   So if you need it to add something special to your currency collection, that actually proves what they were used for,  this may be just the opportunity, don't let it slip by.
