Lieutenant Colonel H. H. Ferris
proudly served in the United States Marine Corps through both the Korean and
Viet Nam Wars. The uniform is in good
condition for its vintage. The
blouse/jacket has no size label – please rely on measurements. The chest from armpit to armpit measure 19
inches – thus the chest measures 38 inches.
Sleeves from shoulder seam to end of cuff measure 26 1/2 inches. Shoulder to shoulder is 17 ½. The Officers Blood Strip Trousers are dated
12-13-60. Waist measures 33 inches with
an inseam of 32 inches. The sword buckle
is top grain cowhide made by Hilborn-Hamburger – size 32 with gold belt buckle.
On the shoulders there are the silver Oak Leaves for USMC Lieutenant
Colonel. On the left breast are 12
ribbons: Navy and Marine Corps Achievement, Meritorious Unit Award, National
Defense Service Ribbon with Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Navy Sea
Service, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal,
Viet Nam Presidental Unit Citation. Viet
Nam Civil Actions Unit Citation. Below the ribbons are the Rifle Expert shooting Badge and a Pistol
Sharpshooter. For many years this uniform was
displayed in the VFW Hall and is in very good display condition.
