Dan Heisman diary and 56 Photo Postcards.
This diary or log book from Dan Heisman brother of John Heisman (Heisman Trophy) who served 38 years in the US Navy. John had two brothers Dan and Michael. The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award (often known simply as the Heisman Trophy or the Heisman), named after the former college football coach John Heisman.
Dan served on the USS Colorado from June 22nd, 1910 to June 28, 1913. Looks like he may have been transferred to the USS St. Louis on June 29, 1913 to December 5, 1913. Every day on board or on leave is documented in this diary of about 70 pages written in Dan's own hand. He departed on USS Coloardo from Bremerton, Washington and made port calls in Peru, Chile, San Francisco, San Diego, Hawaii, Philippines, Corinto, Nicaragua, Panama, San Juan Del Sur, Gulf of Fonseca, Mexico, and a few other places.
Photo cards are from USS Colorado and depict real life on ship. Some have descriptions written on back. From Nicaragua, Panama, Philippines, and other places. One card shows a boxing match and another is from Dan's Mother with written message to him. Some show US Marines in Nicaragua. Some of the cards depict Dan by himself and with shipmates.
All the photo cards are postally unused. Please see pictures below.
