UZBEK SILK HAND EMBROIDERED DECORATIVE NOMAD'S BAG “NAPRAMASH”

All small articles like small bags for tea and salt, scull-hats, pillow-slips and many other objects have been embroidered by Uzbek skilled artisans. Since ancient times small Uzbek handicrafts took one of the main places in our daily lives.
Each piece of Uzbek Silk handmade embroidery is a skillfully made masterpiece. Silk handmade embroidery is an inalienable part of Uzbek tradition and culture.

The present item is a “Lakay” (nomadic population) bag – “Napramash” restored by old technologies. It was used initially as a store bag for different stuffs during the travel that was putted over the donkey on both sides. The item comes from the Southern Uzbekistan. The pattern of the handmade embroidery is composed of fascinating traditional ornaments in mysterious Lakay style. It consists of fanciful patterns such as “tumors” – protection against evil, stylized beetles and almonds. The both sides are also decorated with hand embroidery. You can follow 8 hand woven decorative loops here. The foundation of the embroidery is cotton velvet fabric lined with cotton inside. The back side of the bag is a pure woolen cloth. This “Napramash” with outstanding Lakay design is a wonderful demonstration of superior craftsmanship of Oriental Silk embroidery.

Size: 47” x 17.8” x 11.4" (inch)/119” x 45” x 28.9"(cm).

Condition: excellent, except the tiny moth-eaten tears on a woolen part.
