UZBEK RARE ORIGINAL SILK HAND- EMBROIDERED SUZANI

Offered here is an old Uzbek artistic embroidery from Boysun. Natural cotton background, manual embroidery with homemade silk threads. This traditional embroidery-Suzani is included in the dowry. It represents an artistic realization of prayers for blessing and happiness of the future young family. But this rare embroidery was made by a girl for her birthday. It decorated en especial wall in a drawing room. The embroidery is very original. It doesn't look like the traditional Muslim Uzbek embroidery where exists the Islamic prohibition to represent living creatures, especial a human. It is because of the Boysun region is only one place in Uzbekistan where survived the Buddism traditions of the ancient Bakrtia.

The composition consists of the young Uzbek beauty surrounded with the rich blossoming motifs. Uzbek embroidery discloses a whole world of poetic imagery.

Boysun is original "lost world" ringed by mountains in the south of Uzbekistan , a rich source of folk culture traditions. The mountain relief of Boysun and its location for from big cities have provided stability and selfsufficiency of the traditional rural life. In autumn and winter the roads going to highland villages become impassable. Agriculture is still based on the irrigation system of aryks fed from mountain rivers and springs. Some areas remain inaccessible to machinery and are cultivated with a plough. Weaving looms, clay ovens, water mills, oil-mixers and smith's shops play an important role in Boysun everyday life. The ornaments on costumes and craft products go back to the 10-11th centuries. Cattle are considered as the major riches. Practically every Boysun family spends the summer out of their village-kishlak, on summer grasslands. In these cases the ancient invention of nomads- the demountable semicircular felt dwelling "yurt" - is still widely used as mobile dwelling. The skills of horse riding and national wrestling-kurash are esteemed as basic men's qualities. The lifestyle and the cult of respect for elders ensure that Boysun is a land of long-livers, where the age of hundered years is normal. Today's Boysun culture has preserved the folklore, folk rituals and crafts traditions of sedentary and nomadic Turkic and East-Iranian absorbing organically folk Islam and ancient superstitions. The elements of animism, Zoroastrianism, Buddism, ancestor cults, Fire and Sun worship and healthen deities can be traced in folklore, rituals and the motif of applied arts. This veriety and richress of Boysun's culture have stimulated the great interest in Boysun all over Uzbekistan and abroad.
